Waste Management Unit deals with the regulatory aspects in relation to the Hazardous Waste Management (Scheduled Waste Management),  Chemical Management under the provisions of the National Environmental Act and the other related regulations.

Apart from all these functions WMU also provides necessary awareness and educational assistance for the general public.

Main Functions of the Unit

• Scheduled Waste Management (Hazardous Waste Management) Licensing.

• Granting Consent for Transboundary movement of Hazardous Waste (Import/Export/Transit).

• Granting Approval for the Importation of Chemicals

• Issuance of “ No objection” letters for certain chemical substances and products.

• Issuance of clearance for disposal of rejected items from Ports.
