The CEA raids an Illegal Lunch Sheet Manufacturing Factory in Malagala, Padukka

The CEA conducted a raid on banned lunch sheet manufacturing industry, which is located in Malagala, Padukka,   in Padukka Police area, jointly with the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) and Police special Unit of the CEA on 26th June 2018 Wednesday.


 When the raid was conducted the industry was in operation and lunch sheets were being manufactured using HDPE, LDPE materials and calcium. Four extruder machines (15Hp and 10 each), three cutting machines (2Hp each) and two mixtures were being used for the production process.  It has been revealed that this illegal industry does not possess any kind of approval, including the Environmental Protection License (EPL) and Trade License. This industry has violated the National Environmental Act since there is no valid EPL and manufactures HDPE lunch sheets in contrary with Regulation No. 2034/34 of 2017 09.01. The CEA pursue legal action against the accused for these two charges in the Horana Magistrates Courts.


The production stock of half a ton was ceased by the CAA and transported to Dompe Sanitary Landfill Site till the Magistrat’s order is received for disposal. The ceased stock is worth Rs. five lacks. The company is owned by a person living in Galagedara, Padukka.
