The Environment Education Unit of the CEA organized residential training program for newly recruited Environmental Officers in regards to strengthening Environmental Pioneer Program from 7th to 9th March 2019 at the National Institute of Plantation Management, Athurugiriya. Nearly, 30 officers participated in this program.
The program was conducted with the objectives of to provide a broad knowledge of pioneers’ program, activities and the medal hierarchy of the program and to strengthen the EPP program leads to generate more Presidential medalist.
Several lectures were presented to give theoretical and practical knowledge in this regards, by Dr. Ajith Gunawardhane, Deputy Director, R & D, Mr. Ajith Herath, Assistant Director, EEU, Mr. W D Wijesinghe, former Senior Lecturer, NIE and Lawyer. Jagath Gunawardhane, Legal Consultant on preparation of research proposal, medal hierarchy of pioneer program, preparation and presentation of project proposals and International Conventions and Environment Law respectively.
Also, participants visited the Resource Management Centre, Karadiyana and Diyasaru Park to obtain the practical approach. Furthermore, officers participated in yoga and meditation session to relax and rejuvenate their mind and body.
The program was inaugurated with the participation of Mr. Gamini Jayasinghe, Deputy Director General, EE & A and Mr. Premarathne Dissanayake, Director, Environment Education Unit. With the support of the officers of the Unit the program was conducted.
