The Central Environment Authority had declared a Polythene/Plastic and Electronic Waste prevention week from 24th to 30th October 2016, under the guidance of His Excellency the President Maithreepala Sirisena. Polythene / Plastic and E- waste has become a massive problem at present in Sri Lanka. To aware the people about the affects and important information about polythene and E – Waste is the main objective of this program.
During the prevention week all districts gave their contribution to collect those materials and as a total 71.59 tons of Plastic/ Polythene and 440.38 tons of Electronic waste were collected.
