The CEA conducted a raid on banned lunch sheet manufacturing industry, which is located in Thunandahena, Korathota in Kaduwela Police area, jointly with the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) and Police special Unit of the CEA on 29st January 2020 Wednesday.
When the raid was conducted the industry was in operation and lunch sheets were being manufactured using HDPE materials and calcium. Two extruder machines (2Hp each), two cutting machines (2HP each HP) and one mixtures were being used for the production process. It has been revealed that this illegal industry does not possess any kind of approval, including the Environmental Protection License (EPL), Business Registration and Trade License. This industry has violated the National Environmental Act since there is no valid EPL and manufactures HDPE lunch sheets in contrary with Regulation No. 2034/34 of 2017.09.01. The CEA pursue legal action against the accused for these two charges in the Kaduwela Magistrates Courts.
The production stock one and a half of tons were seized by the CAA and transported to Dompe Sanitary Landfill Site till the Magistrat’s order is issued for disposal. The seized stock is worth nearly four hundred thousand rupees. This illegal company is owned by a person in Hokandara.
