Opening of Information Boards in Hanthana Protection Area, Kandy

With a view to making general public and  stakeholders  aware of  the permitted activities that could be implemented within the Hanthana Environment Protection Area gazetted 17th Feb 2010, the Central Environmental Authority erected additional information boards both in Sinhal and Tamil languages at locations of  3000 ft and 2500ft contour lines and boundary of  Protection Area on 10th January 2017. These information boards very clearly depicts the permitted activities, which could be implemented with the approval of Hantana Protection Area Management Committee .

Mr. Muthukudaarachchi, Director General, who was the chief invitee, unveiled the information  boards. Before unveiling boards, a stakeholder meeting was first held at the Thapodarama Viharaya, Hanthana with the blessing of Ven Kudapiligama Nanda Thero. Mr. K.H. Muthukudaarachchi, Mr. J C Ranepura, Additional District Secretary, Kandy District Secretariat  and  members of Hantana Protection Area Management Committee, Gama Niladaris and villages participated at this  occasion.
