Surface Water Quality Monitoring By The Laboratory Of Central Environmental Authority

Several water quality monitoring programme has been carried out by the laboratory of Central Environmental Authority. These include Kelani River , and Boralasgamuwa  wewa. Physical, chemical microbiological parameters of the surface water at preselected sampling location were carried out during 2012 on monthly basis. The water quality in these three selected water bodies were evaluated by the Canadian water quality index method (CWQI).

The monitoring parameters  includes pH , Electrical conductivity (EC), Turbidity (Turb), Temperature (Temp) ,Dissolved Oxygen (DO)  Biochemical Oxygen Demand  (BOD) ,Chemical Oxygen Demand  (COD), Dissolve heavy metals such as  Leas and Chromium . Nutrient  and Microbiological contaminant etc..
