“Wana Ropa” Tree Planting Program -2016

Under the guidance of H.E. the President Mithreepala Sirisena, the Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment and its line Institution has planned to conduct “Wana Ropa” National Tree Planting Program in the month of October.


As a parallel event, CEA collaborate with the Ministry of Education has organized 3 programs under the topic of “Wana Aranata – Sisu Sarana”. According to that CEA and Ministry of Education jointly implemented a program to plant 3 plants in all schools and aftercare once planted need to be done by the students themselves. The other program is to raise a woodlot in a suitable school in each district by planting at least 50 fruit plants and aftercare need to be done by students themselves.


Parallel to these programs another main event is going to be held on 28th  November 2016 with the participation of Hon. Anuradha Jayarathne, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Mahaweli Development and Environment at the Pussellawa Estate. Pussellawa Plantation is the main partner of this program and Estimated to plant 11,200 saplings including Albecea, Eucalyptus and Forest Species in 14,000 Hectares.
