Knowledge & experience sharing workshops for Textile & Textile Processing Industries and Hotels were organized by the Environmental Pollution Control Unit on 27thand 28thFebruary 2019 at the CEA.
On the first day, gold winner for textile & the textile processing industry sector in the Presidential Environment Awards - 2018, MAS Fabrics (Pvt) Ltd - MATRIX, MAS Fabric Park,Thulhiriya shared their knowledge and experience towards the green approaches and corporate social responsibilities. 55 participants from textile & textile processing industries were participated. Mr. Manikya Dissanayake, Senior Executive-Sustainability and Mr. Nalin Lenagala, Assistant Manager-Sustainability from MAS Fabrics (Pvt) Ltd – MATRIX delivered presentations on the journey of their achievements.
On the second day, gold winner for the Hotel sector in the Presidential Environment Awards - 2017, Cinnamon Wild Yala, Kirinda, Tissamaharama and Gold winner (Hotel sector), Presidential Environment Awards – 2018, Royal Palm Beach Hotel, Waskaduwa, Kaluthara North presented their green approaches and good practices towards protecting & conserving the environment and their activities on corporate social responsibility. 50 participants from the Hotel sector were participated. Mr. Keerthi Wimalsooriya – Resident Manager, Mr. Vijitha Athauda - Maintenance Supervisor, Ms. Malsha Samarasekara , Executive – Health, Safety & Environment, Mr. ChanakaYapa Bandara , Assistant Manager – Health, Safety & Environment from Cinnamon Wild Yala and Ms. Ahinsa Dewmini, Environmental Annimator from Royal Palm Beach Hotel delivered their presentations.
Mr. K H Muthukudaarachchi, DDG (EPC) and Dr. R M S K Rathnayake, Director (EPC) joined in the discussions to provide solutions for their issues while working towards the environmental compliance.
