Parallel to the World Day to combat Desertification, which is held on 17th June 2018 an especial tree planting program was held under the guidance of Mr. Chandrarathne Pallegama, Chairman CEA with the collaboration of the Civil Security Department (CSD). 2000 Jak saplings will be planted to plant in Kilinochchi & the Mulathive district under this program.
Those saplings provided by the Sri Lanka Timber Cooperation as a community service. The inauguration program was held on 17th June 2018 at 10.00 am with the participation of Mr. Pallegama and to initiate the program Jak saplings planted in farm premises belongs to CSD in Kilinochchi district.
By addressing the gathering Chairman highlighted that, at the present the nature signaling about the Desertification with the drought periods we faced. So that tree planting is very important step to prevent those natural changes he further expressed.
Officers from Civil Security Department, Mr. Buddhika Weheragoda, DDG, HRD, Admin & Finance, Mr. Gamini Jayasinghe, DDG, EE & A Division, Mr. T Suboharan, Deputy Director, Kilinochchi District Office, CEA, Mr. Bandula Sarath Kumara, Deputy Director, Pilisaru Project and other officers participated in the occasion.
