To enhance the knowledge of environmental conservation and protection, the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) frequently conducts many awareness programs for different target groups of the society. Accordingly, an especial program was held for technical college students on 10th May 2018 at Technical College, Maradana. Nearly 225 students participated in the program.
The objective of this program is to disseminate the knowledge and improve the attitudes of the students of the technical colleges and to incorporate environmental friendly practices for their career development.
Ms. S Hettiarachchi, Principal, Sri Lanka Technical College made the welcome speech.
Mr. G Jayasinghe Deputy Director General EE & A Division explained the objectives of this program and Mr. Premarathne Dissanayake, Director, EE & A Division gave a brief introduction about the sustainable development.
Mr. Ajith Weerasundara, Director Waste Management Unit, CEA done the presentation on polythene banning and waste management issues in Sri Lanka and Mr. V R Seena Peiris, Consultant (Energy & Sustainability), Former Execative Officer at National Cleaner Production Centre was made a presentation on Environmentally sustainable Technologies for Achieving Susutainable Development.
With the aid of the officers of EE & A division, the program was successfully concluded.
