Workshop on Introducing Environment Education for Piriven

An especial program on Introducing Environment Education for Piriven was held on 14th November 2017 at the Central Environmental Authority (CEA) with the participation of 75 Monks and Piriven teachers of the Colombo district.
Prof. Lal Mervin Dharmasiri, Chairman, CEA welcome the participants and explain the objective of the program. Rajakeeya Panditha Ven. Prof. Nabiriththankadawara Ganarathana Thero, Director – Piriven, Ministry of Education and Ven. Dodangoda Piyasiri Thero, Assistan Education Director – Colombo District participated in the event.
Dr. Nishan Sakalasooriya, Head of the Geography Department,  University of Kelaniya, Mr. Gamini Gamage, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Mahaveli Development & Environment (Retired) and Dr. Jayantha Wattevidanage, Senior Lecture, Open University of Sri Lanka participated as the resource personnel for the program.
The main objectives of this program are to discuss about how the Buddhist culture teaches environmental conservation, how monks can involve in protection of the environment and obtain the active participation in environmental education.
