Environmental Pioneer President Medal Awarding Ceremony -2017 at President’s House

Environmental Pioneer President Medal Awarding Ceremony, one of the unforgettable moment in pioneer’s lifetime was held on 13th September 2017 at 3.00 p.m. in the President’s House. Under the patronage of His Excellency the President Mithreepala Sirisena and with the participation of distinguished guests including the Hon. Anuradha Jayarathna, Attorney-at-Law, Deputy Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment, Prof. Lal Mervin Darmasiri Chairman, Mr. Hemantha Jayasinghe Director General CEA the event was graced.
   Forty pioneers representing 16 schools awarded with the President Medal at the event. Apart from that 11 Divisional Environmental Officers, 14 Teacher In charge in EPP Program who gave their contribution to succeed this program were also awarded.
Mr. Nuwan Jiwlehela, Divisional Environmental Officer, who has created 11 President Medalist in Monaragala District and Ms. Nilanthi Karunanayake Divisional Environmental Officer who has created 8 President Medalist in Kurunegala District in the year 2017, were awarded with Excellent Service Award to inspire their great contribution.
Ms. Geetha Kalyani Thelahera, Teacher In charge in EPP Program from Udabadalawa Sudarshana Vidyalaya, Kurunegala and Ms. P V D Swarna, Teacher In charge in EPP Program from Dutugemunu Central College, Monaragala also awarded with  Excellent Service Award for the formation of highest number of President Medalist, 7 and 8 Medalist respectively in the year 2017.
Two schools, namely Tangalle Balika, Hambantota and Udabadalawa Sudarshana Vidyalaya, Kurunegala were appreciated with the Excellanecy Awards for the generation of highest number of President Medalist, 73 & 48 medalists respectively in the period of 2001 to 2016.
