Identifying of point sources of polluting Kelani River


According to the reveal from the media, that Kelani River get polluted by Industrial and domestic waste and sewage. As an action on this matter the Central Environmental Authority organized an inspection along the Kelani River in Colombo district in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Navy, relevant Local Authorities, Water Supply and Drainage Board and relevant Divisional Secretariat.    
The program was scheduled for two days: on 30th of May inspected the left river bank from Modara to Kaduwela and on the 31st of May inspected also left river bank from Kaduwela to Poogoda Bridge of Kelani River.
According to this inspection, it was identified, point sources emit waste and sewage into the river. Several actions have been proposed to implement to mitigate the pollution.
