Prize Giving Ceremony
The Central Environmental Authority is conducting several promotion programs to disseminate environmental message among the public. Suwasara Thaksalawa is one of such programs conducted by the Education & Awareness Division of CEA to promote Eco Friendly practices among the School community. The program was conducted since 2002 with the collaboration of the Ministry of Education.
All Island competition of the Suwasara Thaksalawa program was held throughout the year to select the best three schools from each district. The prize giving ceremony was held on 14th February 2017 with the distinguished patronage of H/E the president Mithreepala Sirisena at CEA Auditorium. Along with the prize giving the Teachers and Divisional Environmental Officers who gave their contribution to build many Environmental Pioneers also appreciated at the occasion. Hon. Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Minister of Education, Mr. Udaya R. Senevirathne, Secretary of Mahaveli Development & Environment and other distinguished invites including Prof. Lal Mervin Dharmasiri Chairman, CEA and Mr. K.H. Muthukudaarachchi Director General CEA participated in the event.
Mr. Ashoka Senani Hewage, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education address the gathering and express that importance of strengthening the Environmental Pioneer Program in the school system and how the Suwasara Thaksalawa Program is significantly important for the improvement of School Environment.
