The Complaint Unit was established in November 2007 for handling of complaints which are received by CEA.

Forwarding complaints to relevant responsible Units/Divisions/regional offices of the CEA and if the complaint does not come under the mandate of the CEA; to relevant institution/institutions

What happens to your complain?
When the Complaint Unit receives a complaint, that complaint, is registered by giving a registration number. Then it is referred to relevant responsible Institution/institutions.
Most of the complaints received by the CEA are against violationsof sections of the National Environmental Act.
e.g. an industrial pollution caused by a factory
If your complain is relevant to the CEAit is investigated by the officers attached to our relevant units at the Head Office or officers of Provincial Offices of the CEA.
Complaints which are not relevant to the CEA arereferred to relevant responsible Institute or Institutions for necessary actions with a copy to the complainant. e.g. Local Authorities, GSMB, TRC,SLLRDC &etc.)
