Presidential Environment Awards - 2025

In order to reinforce the country's commitment to sustainable development and building a clean, green nation, the Sri Lankan government is dedicated to fostering a clean environment by involving institutional and public partners. One major initiative put in place to accomplish this goal is the Central Environmental Authority's Presidential Environment Awards Ceremony. Since its inception in 2011, the Presidential Environment Awards Ceremony has successfully held ten ceremonies by 2024.

The Presidential Environment Awards Program has been designed by the Central Environmental Authority to recognize industries, public and private institutions, non-governmental organizations, schools committed to environmental conservation and community participation that have made significant contributions to environmental conservation. Most of the criteria used to evaluate the winners are also in line with the programs proposed to be implemented under the current government’s “Clean Sri Lanka” program. The program aims to provide state recognition to various stakeholders who have implemented sustainable activities, encourage community responsibilities and further inspire these institutions in their efforts. In addition, the program aims to introduce sustainable environmental interventions for industrial development, enhance community participation in environmental conservation and activate and enhance community participation towards environmental protection and sustainable development.
